This UK-wide research in collaboration with Alzheimer Scotland, University of Edinburgh and Key and Community Lifestyles aimed to find out more about the experiences of couples with a learning disability when one partner had dementia. The impetus for the study came from Andrew, a married man with a learning disability and dementia. See below for project video and further information, to download stories of the couples who took part please visit the website of Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities. Stand by Me was the winner in the Dementia and Diversity category at the UK Dementia Care Awards 2024 and the Diversity through Education category at the Herald & GenAnalytic Awards, 2023.
