intellectual disability and dementia international summit 2016
In October 2016, an International Summit on Intellectual Disability and Dementia was held in Glasgow, Scotland with 32 representatives from twelve countries in attendance, and the pre-recorded experiences of people with intellectual disabilities shared at the event. The International Summit was facilitated and co-hosted by Dr Karen Watchman, University of Stirling, Scotland and Professor Matthew Janicki, University of Illinois at Chicago. An Intellectual Disability and Dementia Summit II is currently being planned for Toronto, October 2023. Outputs from this two-day event will be posted early in 2024. |

Pre-summit working groups sought local and national perspectives and lived experiences using a shared web space to collate information and recordings in advance of meeting in Glasgow. Subsequent reports collaboratively developed between 2017-2020 can be accessed below and left.
